AI DiscoveryShoppers are asking AI what to buy. Make your products worth quoting

AI assistants recommend the products whose data answers the shopper’s question. Renable writes that data from the facts already in your catalog: readable titles, product highlights, use-case tags and review excerpts. It ships in your Google Merchant feed.

The shift, as of mid-2026

Search is turning into an answer — and the answer names products

People increasingly ask an AI assistant like ChatGPT or Google AI Shopping to recommend a product instead of scrolling ten blue links. The AI reads structured product data and names the ones that fit. The figures below are about the outside world, as of mid-2026, not Renable results.

Tens of billions

Product listings in Google’s Shopping Graph — the data behind AI Overviews, AI Mode, and Gemini shopping — refreshed continuously.

Answers, then your store

ChatGPT assembles shopping answers from merchant feeds and public product pages, then links the shopper out to the store — so your product data is what it has to work with.

One catalog

Microsoft Copilot reads Microsoft’s product catalog, and Microsoft Merchant Center accepts Google-formatted feeds — so one clean catalog reaches more AI surfaces.

The thing that decides whether an assistant can recommend you isn’t a new channel — it’s whether your product data answers the question. That part you control.

How AI shopping answers choose products

An assistant doesn’t match keywords — it reads product data and recommends what answers the question. A feed with a title, a price, and a thin description has nothing to quote, so it never makes the shortlist.

A shopper asks

“a waterproof trail shoe for winter?”

The assistant reads product data

AI shopping assistant

“What’s a good waterproof trail shoe for winter?”

For winter trails, look for a waterproof membrane and deep lugs. One that fits: the Trail Runner 300 — its membrane keeps feet dry down to freezing and the lugs grip wet rock. Reviewers note it runs half a size small.

Illustration of how an assistant assembles an answer from product data. Renable can’t put you in the answer — no one can — but a catalog that answers the question is the one thing that makes it possible.

The content AI assistants actually quote

Renable writes the fields an assistant can lift straight into a recommendation, product by product. All of it comes from the facts already in your catalog and your reviews. Nothing is invented.

Readable titles and descriptions

A spec-code title becomes a name a shopper understands, and a wall of specs becomes a description that reads well. The facts stay exactly as they were.

Product highlights

Short reasons to buy an assistant can quote directly, each one drawn from a spec or a feature the product really has.

Use-case tags

When and where the product fits, so an assistant can match it to the shopper’s situation instead of just their keywords.

Review excerpts

The best line from each product’s real reviews, word for word, shipped with the product so the shopping AI can quote a customer instead of a spec.

Structured product details

Your product’s own specs as labelled pairs an assistant reads as facts, instead of digging them out of a paragraph. Straight from your catalog. No AI, no credits.

Buyer-intent Q&A

The questions shoppers ask: is it good for winter, does it fit wide feet. Aimée asks you for the facts, writes the entries, and Renable ships them in Google’s question-and-answer format.

Every piece is written from your product data and lands in your normal content review. Approve a piece and it is locked, so later runs never overwrite what you signed off.

Answers backed by your customers, not just your spec sheet

A real customer quote answers the question better than a spec

Shoppers ask an assistant things a spec sheet cannot settle. Is it actually good for winter? Does it hold up? Renable answers with proof. It connects Trustpilot, Bazaarvoice, Yotpo and TestFreaks, and Aimée lifts the line worth quoting from each product’s reviews.

That line ships in your feed as a review excerpt, and it is the evidence in front of you when you answer buyer questions. Every quote is word for word from the review and attributed by first name. No other platform pairs native review connections with AI-discovery content.

Google first: it ships in the Google feed Renable builds for you

The enriched content rides real Google Merchant fields: product highlights, product details, richer descriptions. Nothing new to set up and nothing extra to maintain. If Renable builds your Google feed, AI discovery is a switch, not a project.

Those fields feed Google’s Shopping Graph — the product data behind Google Shopping, AI Overviews, AI Mode, and Gemini’s shopping answers. Better fields in, stronger candidate out.

ChatGPT shopping

A channel that builds your catalog in OpenAI’s feed format and delivers it over SFTP. Being listed is OpenAI’s call. Its merchant program is approval-based and US-first as of mid-2026. ChatGPT’s answers also lean on Google Shopping listings, so your Google feed works there too.

Perplexity shopping

A channel that ships your catalog in the format Perplexity reads, at a hosted URL or pushed to the SFTP credentials Perplexity issues at onboarding. Its merchant program is free and application-based, US-focused as of mid-2026. Perplexity carries no advertising, so its shopping results are organic.

Any surface that reads a product feed

Build a custom feed with any field set, as XML, CSV, TSV, JSON or JSON Lines, delivered at a hosted URL or pushed over SFTP. For any destination not on the list.

Nobody can promise you a spot. So we make your data undeniable

Google, OpenAI, and Perplexity decide what surfaces in an answer — and any tool that guarantees you placement is selling something it can’t deliver. What you control is your data. Renable’s job is to make it the strongest candidate it can be, ship it in the right fields for every channel, and show you exactly where it still falls short.

Review at your pace — and what you approve stays put

AI discovery at catalog scale is a volume problem: hundreds of products, several pieces of content each. So generated content goes into your feed as soon as it’s written — review is an editorial pass, not a gate, and a routine highlight never waits in a queue for a human to release it.

Structural changes are gated the other way: the enrichment configuration and the per-channel field mapping are drafts until you publish them, versioned and undoable. So content flows by exception, and configuration stays under your hand.

Approving a piece locks it, so later runs never overwrite what you signed off — the one thing you can’t undo by accident. Running an agency? The same review surface widens per client: approve a single piece, a whole product at once, or everything you’ve selected.

Frequently asked questions

What is AEO / GEO, and do I need it?
AEO (answer engine optimization) and GEO (generative engine optimization) are the new names for the same job: making your product data legible to AI assistants so they can recommend you. You don’t need a new acronym or a separate tool — you need your feed to answer the questions assistants ask. That’s what the AI-discovery pass and the readiness audit do.
Will this get my products into AI answers?
It makes them stronger candidates. That is the limit of what anyone can do. Google, OpenAI, and Perplexity choose what they surface. What Renable controls is whether your data answers the questions assistants ask of it, and whether it’s in the fields each channel reads — and the readiness audit shows you exactly where it isn’t yet.
Do I need a new feed or integration for Google?
No. The content ships inside the Google Merchant feed Renable already exports for you, in fields Google has supported for years. There is nothing new to install and nothing extra to maintain.
Can I export a feed to ChatGPT?
You can build one today: the ChatGPT channel produces your catalog in OpenAI’s feed format and delivers it over SFTP. Whether it gets used is OpenAI’s decision — its merchant program is approval-based and US-first as of mid-2026, and stores on some platforms are enrolled through the platform rather than by applying. Worth knowing meanwhile: ChatGPT’s shopping answers draw heavily on Google Shopping listings, so a strong Google feed is the lever that works everywhere, with no application.
What about Perplexity?
There is a Perplexity channel. It ships your catalog in the format Perplexity reads, hosted at a URL or pushed to the SFTP credentials Perplexity issues at onboarding. Its merchant program is free and application-based with business verification, and US-focused as of mid-2026. Perplexity carries no advertising, so its shopping results are organic. Renable prepares and delivers the feed, and Perplexity decides what it shows.
What about schema markup and crawlability on my own site?
Renable ships feeds, not on-site markup. Schema.org tags and your robots rules live on your store, and they matter for AI crawlers, but they are not something Renable writes onto your pages. What Renable owns end to end is the product feed, the source every merchant program reads.
Who approves what gets published?
Generated content goes into your feed as it’s written — review is an editorial pass, not a gate, so a catalog of hundreds never stalls behind a queue. Approving a piece locks it, so later automated runs don’t overwrite it. The structural side is gated the other way: the enrichment configuration and the channel field mapping stay drafts until you publish them.
What does it cost?
It isn’t a module or an add-on. AI discovery runs on the credits included in every Renable plan, like all AI content, and Aimée shows a cost estimate before each run — so you decide with the number in front of you. The readiness audit itself is free.
